2019 SCOTTISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

POWERLIFTING, BENCH-PRESS & DEAD LIFT

It was lovely day in Robert Burns’ territory at the Scottish Open Championship, for the third year at Burns Gym, Dumfries on 9th March thanks to Stuart Murray, Meet Director. Burns gym is fully equipped with quality equipment that is ideal to the development of humane power and strength.

Competitors travelled some eight hours from all over the UK, besides 4 top lifters from Holland descended on Dumfries, where we were treated to some spectacular performances, causing good vocal support in the audience. It was exciting and exhilarating to see lifters lifting with such good form and technique lifting heavy weights.

To have been present at these championships, you would have witnessed a 380.5 kg squat, 230kg bench press and a 330kg dead lift and many NEW British records.

The standard of lifting was excellent, with an array of new lifters from all categories with some good camaraderie to win the classes creating a very vibrant atmosphere. The Platform crew delivered an excellent application on all lifts.

Full results are on the attached scoresheet.
